DeAngelo Collins of Inglewood High scored 15 points, including a late three-pointer from beyond the NBA three-point line, but it wasn’t nearly enough for the West as the East ran away with a 138-107 victory Thursday in the McDonald’s All-American boys’ basketball game in New York.
Hassan Adams of Westchester scored 13 points and Evan Burns of Fairfax added 11 for the West, which suffered the most lopsided defeat in the 25-year history of the game. Collins and Adams each made only six of 15 shots from the floor for the West, which trailed, 35-18, after the first quarter and never mounted a serious challenge.
In the inaugural girls’ game, Tye’sha Fluker of Pasadena Muir had seven points and 10 rebounds to lead five Southern California players as the West defeated the East, 94-85. Willnett Crockett of Harbor City Narbonne added six points and 11 rebounds.
