Dave White, who took Huntington Beach Edison to the Southern Section Division I football final for the first time in 16 years, has been selected NFL High School Coach of the Year.
White’s Chargers (11-1-1) tied Los Alamitos for their first Sunset League title since 1990 and advanced to the section championship, where they lost to heavy favorite Long Beach Poly, 42-28.
White, a 1974 Edison graduate, has a 117-56-3 record in 16 seasons as coach at his alma mater.
