Packing It In
I am fascinated by Shirley Slater’s and Harry Basch’s ability to be on the road for three months, each carrying nothing more than a roll-aboard small enough to stow in the overhead and yet having almost everything they needed for a Queen Elizabeth 2 crossing (“Dressing to Sail Takes the Gift of Garb,” Cruise Views, July 14). The QE2 requires a tuxedo or dark suit every evening, except on embarkation night. That would indicate that ladies also need formal attire.
We have cruised for years, and as hard as we try not to overpack, we have never been able to accomplish the miraculous feat of carrying nothing more than a roll-aboard and carry-on camera/computer case.
