Mortgage Rates Climb for Third Week in Row
The average interest rate on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages rose to 7.14%, up from 7.08% the previous week, according to a nationwide survey. A year ago 30-year mortgages averaged 6.89%.
Fifteen-year mortgages, a popular option for refinancing, went up to 6.65%, from 6.59% the week before. On one-year adjustable-rate mortgages, lenders were asking an average initial rate of 5.11%, up from 5.08% the previous week.
