4 Wounded in Drive-By Shootings

Four people were wounded Friday in separate drive-by shootings in South Los Angeles.
The first shooting left two women critically wounded in an industrial neighborhood at South San Pedro Street and West Slauson Avenue just before 2:30 p.m.
The women, in their 20s, were in a car and became involved in a dispute with three or four males in another car, Sgt. Randy Goens said. One of the men fired a semiautomatic rifle, striking each woman once in the upper body, Goens said.
About two hours later, shots were fired at a father and son on South Bronson Avenue near Adams Boulevard in the Jefferson Park neighborhood.
The 18-year-old was struck three times, including once in the head, police said. His father, Hyman Lewis, 44, said he ran to his son “and I told him to pray to God.” He said his son is not a gang member. But a friend said he had warned the young man Friday not to wear colors that would make him a target for gang members.
The young man was in critical but stable condition.
Ten minutes after that shooting, a 25-year-old man suffered a graze wound to his head in the 4100 block of Hillcrest Drive during another drive-by attack, police said.
