Baghdad
* U.S. troops try to curb widespread looting; Marines enforce a dusk-to-dawn curfew. The ministries of Education, Industry, Trade and Information are looted and set afire.
* Iraqi citizens reportedly take revenge on Sadddam Hussein’s Baath Party. Street executions are reported and two badly beaten Fedayeen fighters are turned over to the Marines.
* A U.S. soldier is killed and two are wounded when a landmine explodes.
* Shiite gunmen battle Hussein loyalists in a fierce firefight in northeast section of the city.
Mosul
* U.S. and Kurdish forces take the city without a fight as the entire Iraqi army corps defending the city surrenders.
Kirkuk
* U.S. forces begin securing oil fields and an airport near the city.
Tikrit

Syrian border

Ramadi
* U.S. planes drop six satellite-guided bombs on the home of Hussein advisor and half-brother Barzan Imbrahim.
Nasiriyah
* Two children are killed and nine people are injured when U.S. Marines shoot at a car that fails to stop at a checkpoint.
Basra
* Looting continues to rage. British troops kill five men trying to loot a bank. A British soldier is wounded during the confrontation.
