Ruling goes against Bradford

India’s highest court on Monday dismissed a petition filed by bestselling author Barbara Taylor Bradford to stop the telecast of a local soap that the writer said copied from her novels.
New York-based Bradford had accused Sahara Television of plagiarizing from her books for its $13-million “Karishma -- The Miracles of Destiny,” which is the most expensive Indian soap ever filmed. Sahara denied the charges.
An attorney for the novelist said hearings on her main suit against the TV channel alleging infringement of copyright, filed in May in Calcutta, would continue.
