Milpitas Man, 20, Drowns at Emerald Pool

A 20-year-old man drowned in the Merced River while swimming with friends at Emerald Pool, Yosemite National Park officials said Tuesday.
Melvin L. Paballa, of Milpitas, tried to swim across the river at Emerald Pool when he went under Monday. Bystanders and park rangers performed CPR, but he died at the scene.
