U.N. Halts Road Travel for Workers After Attack

The United Nations suspended road travel for its workers in parts of southern Afghanistan after five policemen were wounded at a checkpoint and a group of 10 Afghan aid workers were tied up and beaten by unidentified attackers, a U.N. spokesman said Sunday.
The two attacks occurred last week in the Maywand district of Kandahar province, U.N. spokesman David Singh said in Kabul.
