Pharmacy Groups Sue 2 Prescription Firms
Two pharmacists’ groups claim the nation’s two dominant prescription benefit management firms violate antitrust laws.
In federal lawsuits, the Pharmacy Freedom Fund and the National Community Pharmacists Assn. claim Medco Health Solutions Inc. and AdvancePCS treat pharmacies unfairly and steer customers toward mail-order services, which are more profitable for prescription managers.
The suits were filed in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia.
The National Community of Pharmacists Assn. of Alexandria, Va., and the Pharmacy Freedom Fund of Fort Worth hope to have the suits certified as class actions.
