2 Killed, 1 Injured as Speeding Car Hits Tree

A BMW with three men inside sped off a freeway offramp and struck a tree early Saturday near Griffith Park, killing two of them and seriously injuring the third, authorities said.
The crash on the southbound Golden State Freeway at Colorado Boulevard happened about 2:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two unidentified 24-year-old men, one from Glendale and one from Reseda, died in the crash. A 25-year-old Glendale man was hospitalized with major injuries, authorities said.
The car was traveling at high speed when it hit the tree and caught fire. The crash is under investigation.
