A Sept. 16 trial date has been set in the murder case against Monica Diaz and Michael Naranjo, the two teens accused of killing four members of Diaz’s family and attempting to kill a fifth.
At a court hearing Monday in Norwalk, Judge Philip H. Hickok said that motions would be heard on Sept. 15.
Diaz’s defense attorney, Richard Everett, said after court that he would “more than likely” ask that Diaz and Naranjo be tried separately.
It has been more than three years since Diaz, now 19, and Naranjo, 20, her high school boyfriend, were charged with the July 2000 stabbings of Diaz’s aunt and uncle and three of their children in their Pico Rivera home. The aunt survived.
