Students and teachers at Santa Ana College were evacuated Monday from a building after two glass containers of hydrochloric acid spilled in an outside stairwell, fire officials said.
The 2 1/2-liter spill occurred about 3:40 p.m. when an employee tried to transfer the vials into a carrying case and the containers slipped out of her hands, said Santa Ana fire spokesman Tony Espinosa.
“It was fairly potent,” Espinosa said.
No one was injured.
