Frequent snow country indulgers can do it without assaulting their pocketbooks. The California State Parks Department is selling season permits to its 21 SNO-PARKS statewide.
The parks, which attracted more than 267,000 visitors last year, offer snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, tobogganing and other activities. Participating parks are in Alpine, Calaveras, El Dorado, Fresno, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Sierra and Tuolumne counties. The facilities include cross-country and snowmobile trails, access to snow play areas and snow-cleared parking lots.
Permits cost $25 and are valid through May. They can be purchased by credit card at the California State Parks Store Web site.
