RealNetworks Inc. said film and record companies, including Sony Corp. and EMI Group, will use its new software for preventing music and video piracy.
The Helix DRM product will ensure that consumers who copy music or video from the Internet can do so only for certain formats such as digital music players, a spokesman said. Consumers won’t be able to transfer the music and videos to unauthorized users.
