Bush Telegraphed His Moves to North Korea

Re “N. Korea Given a Final Chance,” Jan. 7: President Bush’s cowboy macho has backfired on him. His lack of knowledge of foreign affairs has him in deep doo-doo now. He has allowed the North Koreans to paint him into a corner. Shooting off his mouth for domestic political considerations is almost treason. As the Godfather told Sonny Corleone: Never let anyone outside the family know what you’re thinking.

Bush gave the North Koreans a strong indication that they would be next on the hit list. Knowing that, and also knowing that we cannot fight two wars at once, they will either build more bombs or get us to sign a nonaggression treaty. Bush should have played more chess in college instead of drinking.
