Law Firm to Act for City in Adelphia Bankruptcy

The City Council agreed Friday to hire an outside law firm to represent the city in the bankruptcy proceedings of Adelphia Communications Corp., which officials say owes the city $3 million in cable television franchise fees.
The council approved a $150,000 contract with the law firm of Mannatt, Phelps and Phillips to act for the city in Bankruptcy Court, which recently blocked city attempts to collect the unpaid fees.
