The assistant principal of Antelope Valley High School pleaded not guilty Friday to charges he molested a male student over a six-month period last year, authorities said.
Gilbert John Lara, 44, was being held on $200,000 bail until a Jan. 28 hearing. He is charged with four counts of oral copulation with a person younger than 18, said Sandi Gibbons, a Los Angeles district attorney’s spokeswoman.
The student was 17 at the time of the abuse, which allegedly began last February at the student’s home, Gibbons said. A school official said Lara was on administrative leave.
