Post, Journal Strike Publication Deal
Less than a month after losing its share of the International Herald Tribune, the Washington Post said it had reached a deal to publish some of its articles in the Wall Street Journal’s international editions.
Under the agreement, the Wall Street Journal Europe and the Asian Wall Street Journal, which are published by Dow Jones & Co., will have access to select Post news and feature articles, as well as opinion columns. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The deal gives the Post a new way to reach an international audience. Until this year, its primary venue for overseas readers had been the Paris-based Herald Tribune, co-owned by Washington Post Co. and New York Times Co., but the Times bought the Post out at the end of 2002. The Post will continue to supply stories to the Tribune until April 1.
The Journal Europe has a circulation of 100,769, and the Asian Journal has a circulation of 84,467.
