Authorities on Sunday identified a man who was gunned down during a dispute over a parking spot as Miguel Angel Solis of Oxnard.
Solis, 37, died at the scene of the shooting, which took place about 5:45 p.m. Saturday in an industrial section of the city, said Sgt. Jim Seitz of the Oxnard Police Department.
The incident began when Solis’ brother, who drives an ice-cream truck, pulled into the parking lot of a warehouse, Seitz said. When he found a car blocking his designated parking spot, he asked the driver to move. When the driver didn’t move, they began arguing, he said.
As their confrontation escalated, Solis arrived with his two adolescent daughters, Seitz said. Solis got between the two men and broke up the fight, according to witness statements. But the man who was blocking the parking space got a gun from his car and shot Solis, Seitz said.
