Splitting up for togetherness

Parents don’t have to be divorced to enjoy the benefits of traveling alone with children (“Family Travel Doesn’t Have to Include Two Parents,” June 15).
My husband and I spent the most enjoyable week imaginable when we split vacations with our daughters. Dad took our baseball-crazy 10-year-old to Cooperstown, N.Y., and New York City while our 16-year-old experienced London with me.
The upside: no competing for parental attention, no whining, no fights, no problems with accommodations, experiences we will treasure for a lifetime and a wealth of stories to share when we reunited at week’s end.
The downside: absolutely none.
It’s always been a mystery to me why more families don’t do this.
