Two motorists were wounded Monday when a passenger in a car driving alongside their SUV opened fire on the Riverside Freeway.
Dennis Papa, 33, of Anaheim Hills and Paola Julio Vapor, 33, of Costa Mesa were westbound in Yorba Linda, near the Eastern toll road, about 4:30 p.m. when two men in a black Honda Civic pulled up and one began firing, according to police.
Lt. Martin Needham, a spokesman for the Brea Police Department, which provides services for Yorba Linda, said both men were hit in their arms and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The freeway’s westbound lanes were closed for about 20 minutes.
The crime was under investigation, Needham said.
