Irvine police are investigating an accident that took the life of a woman Sunday night.
She was driving a Honda Civic eastbound on Main Street when her car collided in an intersection with a pickup that was southbound on Red Hill Avenue, said Irvine Police Sgt. Rhonda Wood.
The Civic was pushed to the curb on Red Hill, police said. The woman died at the scene, Wood said.
Her identity was not released pending the notification of relatives.
Wood said the pickup driver was taken to a hospital.
The intersection was closed late Sunday and could be blocked this morning as police wait for light to obtain more evidence.
