Floods Claim 88 Lives; 100,000 Are Stranded

Floods caused by heavy monsoon rains have killed at least 88 people and stranded more than 100,000 in the southern Pakistani province of Sindh, government officials and the army said. The army reported rescuing more than 30,000 people and taking them to relief camps in the Badin district, 115 miles east of the southern port city of Karachi.
Roads were flooded and power was interrupted by the rains in Karachi. The provincial government said more than 32,000 houses had been damaged in cities and towns including Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Thatta and Larkana.
