Re “Cubans Attempt a Bumpy Ocean Drive,” July 25: If anyone has any questions about what it means to be an American, perhaps they should take their lesson from the 12 Cubans who were willing to leave everything and risk it all to make it to our shores on a floating ’51 Chevy truck.
Personally, I think they should have been let in based on artistic expression alone. Their method may have been crude, but at its heart it was uniquely American. I’m very sorry for the time they might spend in prison learning what it means to be a Cuban.
