A fistfight Tuesday between two employees at a plant nursery left one man dead, according to authorities, who are investigating the incident as a possible homicide.
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies responded shortly after 1:30 p.m. to reports of a brawl at the Colorful Gardens nursery in the 3800 block of Somis Road, and found an unidentified 20-year-old man collapsed. The man was taken to St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo, where he was pronounced dead, said sheriff’s spokesman Eric Nishimoto.
The cause of death was unclear, Nishimoto said.
Ricardo Fuerta Garcia, 32, of Oxnard, the other man involved in the fight, initially left the scene but returned after he was contacted by a deputy. He is cooperating with investigators and has not been charged with a crime, authorities said.
