Re “Davis Recall: Be Careful What You Wish For,” Commentary, June 4: The underlying motivation of the signatories, both Democrat and Republican, to Gov. Gray Davis’ recall petition is a clear message to the governor and the Legislature. We are frustrated by incompetence and inaction. We are the ultimate force in our form of government and demand you comply with our wishes. We are forced to spend within our means, and we demand that you do the same.
