Coachella’s Man of the Year

Thanks for the inspirational article on Lee Espinoza, the Coachella Valley Boxing Club director who believes in giving so much back to his community (“He Made Boxing Bloom in the Desert,” by Murray Olderman, May 11). Not only has he raised four college graduates, but he also has created opportunities for innumerable kids to be successful--both in boxing and in life. He is a Coachella treasure and gets my vote for Man of the Year. How fantastic to have started with a simple idea and built it into something lasting that touches the heart of the community.
