Two teenagers, one of them 13, have been charged with vehicular manslaughter in a drag-racing incident that killed another teenager playing basketball outside his home, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Arthur Concha, 19, and the younger driver, whose name was not released because of his age, were racing in the streets of Bell Gardens on June 5 when the accident occurred, according to investigators.
A car driven by the 13-year-old struck Jesus Gomez, killing him on the eve of his 16th birthday.
If convicted, Concha could face six years in prison.
The district attorney’s office has not yet decided whether it will seek to try the 13-year-old as an adult.
