‘Drew’ takes hits

IN his column about “The Drew Carey Show” (“ ‘Drew’ -- ABC’s Very Own Albatross,” June 25), Brian Lowry focused on the time slot moves, which, to be sure, played a big part in the erosion of the gang’s audience share (what was ABC thinking?). But what about two other factors: (1) the substitution of Cynthia Watros as Kellie to cover the exit of the superb Christa Miller as Kate; and (2) the whole Steve Carey (John Lynch)-as-cross-dresser thing, which was unceremoniously dropped after the character was introduced -- why?
