A 75-year-old Westminster woman remained hospitalized Friday after she was hit by a car in front of a Little Saigon strip mall, dragged 40 feet and then run over when the motorist backed up, police said.
The woman, Tuyet Pham, was in fair condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she was being treated for a broken wrist, ribs and back, and a punctured lung and scrapes, according to Westminster Police Lt. Derrick Marsh.
Pham was crossing a driveway about 10 a.m. Thursday when she was hit by an automobile leaving the shopping center in the 9000 block of Bolsa Avenue, police said.
The driver, Don Ho, 32, of Westminster kept going, heading west on Bolsa and dragging the woman, who was caught under the car.
A bystander got his attention by knocking on his window, police said.
For an unknown reason, Ho put his car in reverse and ran over the woman, causing most of her injuries, police said.
Ho was not cited. The incident is under investigation.
