A 20-year-old Oxnard man was ordered Monday to serve 26 years to life in state prison for fatally stabbing a semiprofessional football player during a fight over a woman.
Robert Hosea stabbed 25-year-old Artis Jackson with a butcher knife last year.
The woman Hosea had been dating had moved back in with Jackson, the father of her son.
According to testimony, Hosea waited outside their Oxnard apartment complex and confronted Jackson, who played for the Pasadena-based California Bandits.
Hosea’s attorney said his client acted in self-defense.
