From Times Staff Reports
Concerned about polluted storm-water runoff, the Ventura County Environmental Health Division issued a warning Monday cautioning swimmers and surfers to stay out of the ocean.
Heavy rains such as the region experienced last weekend can wash pesticides, fertilizers, lubricants and other contaminants down storm channels and into the ocean, officials said.
Contact with contaminated water should be avoided for at least 72 hours after rainfall has ended. For more information, call 654-3524.
