Suit Filed Against Prescription Managers

The biggest government employees union in the United States said it is suing the four largest U.S. pharmacy benefit managers, accusing them of inflating the price of prescription drugs.
The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees said it had filed suit against AdvancePCS, Express Scripts, Medco Health Solutions Inc. and Caremark Rx. Medco Health is a unit of Merck & Co.
Spokesmen for the companies said they had not seen the suit and could not comment on it. Express Scripts and Medco Health contended that they save money for their clients.
The union and the Prescription Access Litigation Project said the lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court under California’s unfair competition law.
