Four men who bilked victims out of $4.4 million in a telemarketing scam were sentenced to federal prison for wire and mail fraud, authorities said Tuesday.
Sentenced to at least 41 months in prison and ordered to pay about $2 million each in restitution were Louis Ramirez III, 27, of Chino; Daniel Eugene Carr, 35, of Newport Beach; Marcel Travers, 42, of Lake Forest; and Bryan D’Antonio, 36, of Brea.
About 12,000 victims paid $400 for a software package with instructions to process medical claims, later realizing it was bogus.
