David Shaw totally missed the reason for the media attention to actors in the Iraq debate. There has been no other effective opposition, neither among politicians nor in the media. The journalistic coverage has been totally spineless or outright collaborationist with the administration. There has been widespread and deep opposition to the administration on this issue, but it was completely unreported until prominent performers raised their voices. Then, and only then, was the opposition given some coverage, and, because of it, the underground movement was able to come out into the open. I say thank goodness that someone had the courage to speak out against the hawks who apparently had complete control of Washington and the media until then.
