Hahn Asks Governor to Send Guardsmen to LAX

Mayor James K. Hahn has asked the governor to send the California National Guard to bolster security at Los Angeles International Airport, the governor’s office said Saturday.
Airport and state officials began meeting early Saturday on the request, said Steve Maviglio, a spokesman for Gov. Gray Davis. He said a decision about how many troops would be deployed and for how long will be made after the state receives a written request, most likely Monday.
