County Holds Suspect in Officers’ 1957 Slayings

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has taken custody of a man accused of killing two El Segundo police officers in 1957 during a traffic stop.
Gerald Mason, 69, was returned to California Friday, nearly two months after he was arrested in Columbia, S.C., and charged with the slayings of two officers who were shot after they stopped for running a red light.
Mason will be arraigned Monday.
