A Rougher Road in Southern Iraq

On Sunday, the Iraqi army took its first U.S. prisoners as coalition forces met their fiercest resistance yet. Both in the southeastern Iraqi city of Nasiriyah and in the southern port town of Umm al Qasr, fighting continued long after the Pentagon had said the cities were in coalition hands -- evidence that opposition was greater than expected. U.S. troops continued to within 100 miles of Baghdad.
