Silken cocoons
DreamSack, makers of lightweight silk pillowcases and bed liners, has expanded into clothing. Their stretchy silk nightgowns and featherweight silk bathrobes feel luscious and take up little space in a suitcase. The gown is available in lilac, sage, ivory, black, willow and red; the kimono-style bathrobe in solid, bamboo pattern or Chinese Happiness pattern in the same colors. Each comes in a matching silk bag.
Nightgown is $59; bathrobe, $85, from DreamSack; (800) 670-7661, www.dreamsack.com.
Raincoat to go
TravelSmith’s polyester microfiber raincoat is stitched and styled like a classic trench coat but packs easily into a suitcase, maintaining a soft, sueded-silk-like feel and wrinkle-free appearance. The lined waterproof coat has a hood that zips behind the collar when not needed, big button-down patch pockets on the outside and two security Velcro-closure pockets inside. The waist is elasticized in the back with a draw cord in front. An optional zip-on quilted Thermolite liner makes the coat useful in colder climates. Comes with its own travel pouch.
Women’s packable microfiber raincoat (5778), in black, sand or red, is $189; liner in black (5783), $59.50, from Travel- Smith; (800) 950-1600, www.travelsmith.com.
Echoes of Africa
Fabric Africa has a fun way to cover up at the beach or after a bath. The kikoi, a 64-by-40-inch lightweight fringed cotton cloth, comes in earth tones or bolder colors and patterns, and has a soft, supple texture that takes the body’s shape when wrapped and tucked. Depending on how it’s worn, the kikoi, which has its origins in East Africa, can be used as a full-body wrap, skirt or top. It makes a nice shawl too.
Kikoi wraps are $29.50 from Fabric Africa in Denver; (303) 861-5017, www.fabricafrica.com.

Baggallini Drawstring Jewelry Pouch is $14.95. To find a retail outlet, contact Baggallini; (800) 259-0417, www.baggallini.com.
