Man Arrested in Attack Injuring Officer, Dog

A man suspected of driving over and severing a police dog’s tail and injuring an officer last week has been arrested in Whittier, police said.
A tip led police to a home about 11 p.m. Friday, but James Darryl Lorenz, 33, fled, said Garden Grove Police Sgt. Mike Handfield. He was found about 30 minutes later at a nearby park.
He is being held on $250,000 bail at Orange County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer, causing injury to a police dog and parole violation.
