Warship Named for Ex-Navy Official Nitze

A 97-year-old former Navy secretary and chief arms control advisor in the Reagan administration was on hand as a warship bearing his name was christened in Bath.
Paul H. Nitze, who served under eight presidents, was one of the architects of the U.S. policy to contain the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
The event marked only the eighth time in Navy history that a warship was named for a living person. The last was retired Adm. Arleigh Burke, who participated in a launching in 1989.
