Judge Agrees to Release Inmate Cleared by DNA

A Florida judge approved a legal agreement authorizing the release of a man who spent two decades on Pennsylvania’s death row for a crime that DNA evidence showed he did not commit.
Nicholas Yarris was cleared last month of a 1981 murder but remained jailed while his lawyers challenged other sentences for crimes he committed in Florida. Florida Circuit Court Judge Daniel P. Dawson signed an order cutting Yarris’ sentences there from 30 years to a total 17 -- less time than he has served.
