Mayor Refuses to Fire Officer in Shooting

Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson refused a demand from civil rights activists to dismiss a white police officer who fatally shot a black teenager this month.
Police have said they will complete an investigation of the shooting by early February and turn their findings over to prosecutors.
Police say the Jan. 3 shooting occurred during a drug purchase gone awry, but have declined to comment on whether any department policies were violated.
Seven black men have been fatally shot by Louisville police in the last five years. No charges have been brought against any of the officers involved.
