Agency Challenges Church’s Building Plan

A church’s plan to turn a 250,000-square-foot building at the former Naval Training Center into a school, sanctuary and offices is being challenged by the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, officials said.
Rev. Miles McPherson of the Rock Academy and Church says the three-story building is perfect for the church’s use.
But the airport agency is challenging the church’s plan to buy and renovate the building because of its proximity to Lindbergh Field.
The authority is asking the city to deny the church an operating permit until an environmental study is done to analyze noise and safety issues.
