Put-Down of Radio Show Ignores the Facts

Re “John and Ken Who?” Opinion, Nov. 7: Gregory Rodriquez’s gloating put-down of Southern California’s highest-rated afternoon talk show tried to ridicule its “political human sacrifice” reality show as a failure because Rep. David Dreier “won by a smaller margin than last time.” However, challenger Cynthia Matthews won an impressive 43% of the vote in a so-called safe Republican district despite a complete lack of support from the Democrats and more than $1 million of Dreier’s mudslinging direct mail, a small fortune few incumbent congressmen are forced to spend.
So yes, John and Ken had a measurable effect on the election, and did us a favor by discussing the taboo topic of illegal immigration, which politicians won’t touch. As for linking the “illegal alien invasion” to terrorism -- let’s all pray that our unguarded southern border won’t ultimately brand Bush’s Homeland Security a tragic oxymoron.
