Re “Rocket Takes 1st Prize of a New Space Race,” Oct. 5: What about the space station and the Hubble telescope? While Burt Rutan and pilot Brian Binnie are celebrating a $10-million win so that the wealthy can get their suborbital thrills in a few years, there are far more pressing matters above. The space station needs repairs and a trash collector; the very useful Hubble needs repairs. How many millions were spent to win the prize? I applaud space exploration but find it not for dilettantes.
