A man died after intentionally setting a fire that heavily damaged a single-family home Monday in the 2000 block of North Gates Street, authorities said.
It took 30 firefighters roughly 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, which started at 6:30 a.m. and was confined to the house’s attic, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
Authorities found the 60-year-old victim on the house’s porch, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not released.
