Reinforcements Help Gain Control of Wildfire

An infusion of fresh firefighters allowed authorities to get the upper hand early Tuesday on a wildfire that has burned more than 12,500 acres in Northern California’s wine country.
Although the moist air and lower temperatures that had been forecast for the region failed to materialize overnight, the number of firefighters assigned to the fire in Sonoma and Lake counties more than doubled, helping to counter poor weather conditions, said Janet Marshall, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
With 2,621 firefighters on the lines, officials said, the blaze was 85% contained Tuesday morning, with full containment expected today.
