Mortgage Rates Rise for the Week

Rates on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages rose to 5.83% this week, up from 5.77% last week, mortgage company Freddie Mac said.
For 15-year fixed-rate mortgages, a popular option for refinancing, rates increased this week to 5.22%, compared with 5.15% last week. Rates on one-year adjustable mortgages rose to 4%, up slightly from 3.97%.
The nationwide averages for mortgage rates do not include add-on fees known as points. The 30-year and 15-year mortgages each carried a 0.8-point fee. One-year mortgages carried an average 0.7 point.
